A multi-function meter is an electronic instrument that measures multiple electrical parameters from a single point in a power system. Unlike traditional analog meters that show only voltage or current, this device simultaneously displays active power (kW), reactive power (kVAR), apparent power (kVA), power factor, frequency, harmonic distortion (THD), and energy consumption (kWh/kVARh). Most units connect via current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (PTs). Data can be read locally on an LCD or transmitted remotely through RS485 (Modbus) to a building management system (BMS) or SCADA.
